About the candidate
Born in 1961, Peter Obi graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and later took business programmes at institutions including Harvard and the Lagos Business School. He served as Governor of Anambra State between 2006 and 2014 and chaired the board of Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission from 2015 to 2018. He was Atiku Abubakar's running mate in 2019 and the Labour Party's presidential candidate in 2023. He is reported to have emerged as the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate for 2027, with former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate. Biographical details drawn from Wikipedia.
